Studio Tour

Gallery VIII artists and friends opened their studios again this year and I was delighted to be included on the tour. Thanks to everyone who came by to visit with me in my studio and view my art. The door prize winner was Cindy H. of Plano.

Pastel Society of the Southwest

2011 National Juried Exhibition of PSSW
Our PSSW juried show is always popular as it features the very best of pastel painting with a wide variety of artists and painting styles.
I had two paintings on display, Transformed - which won the First Award of Excellence and Water Reeds - which won a Merit Award. The Eisemann Center hosted our exhibition in their stunning gallery space during the month of November. We were very fortunate to have noted pastel artist Doug Dawson as our juror this year. Sincere thanks to the many donors, supporters and volunteers who make our show possible.

Demos

I feel priviledged when asked to share my art and working methods with fellow artists. No matter the medium,  I demonstrate my way in utilizing color with painting landscapes. There is never enough time for me to complete a painting during these short meetings so I take a finished piece that is similar to the one to be worked on. The group can then get a better idea of how I get from the initial block in to the finished painting. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and working methods with the versatile gouache medium or pastel and getting the chance to talk about my own path in art.  Contact me about pricing and to schedule a demo for your group.
Thank you to the many organizations for inviting me.

Workshops

I am now offering workshops in both pastel and gouache. It is a chance to share the tips and techniques I utilize in these two media. Please contact me about scheduling a workshop for your group. For individuals who want help with painting on location, schedule a Pack Up and Paint lesson.
GOUACHE
Noted for its strengths of opacity and brilliance of color, gouache (pronounced gwäsh) is a versatile water medium and it adapts well for still life or creating luminous landscapes. Generally a one day seminar.
PASTEL
The intense, vivid colors and immediacy of application make pastels an individually expressive medium. We cover basics while focusing on the visual language of the landscape. Generally a 3 day workshop is offered.
PACK UP and PAINT
The Plein Air Experience
$75.
Painting on location is one of the joys of being an artist. Learn tips from a seasoned painter on how to make the most of that experience. Whether it's your back yard or around the world, you will get help on how to make the best use of your time and to select the right supplies.
This one-on-one private lecture will go over the basics of painting on location.
We will cover all types of mediums - watercolor, oil, or pastel as well as sketching and drawing options, paying the most attention to your particular choice.

Texas and Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition

It is always an honor to have a painting accepted into this juried show. Last year, my gouache painting, Laying Pipe, was awarded a First Place in the Water Media division.  The opening reception featured flower arrangements interpreting the award winning paintings - and are stunning. Artworks are on display from the 5 state competition at the Irving Arts Center Main Gallery in Irving, Texas. I have much appreciation for the honor of an award by juror Marileigh Schulte and for the hard work of the Irving Art Association members who make this show possible.

Posters

Haddad's Fine Arts, of Anaheim California has published posters of three of my pastel landscapes. The series was inspired by trips along the gulf coast and my fascination for the varied lush greenery along  the waterways. They are $20.00 for each 20 x 24 inch heavy weight poster. These are available from national suppliers of fine art posters.
